Welcome to Emma Steyn's Portfolio!

Before you begin, I wanted to share my creative process for this project. I began by choosing a place [Swirlz the coffee house in the UCD MU]. Next, I drew the place without people. Then I chose individuals to draw who I thought were good representatives for all the people present who make up the space. Then I went back home and thought back to my time at Swirlz trying to imagine the soundscapes each individual might have been immersed in. I wrote down some notes about what specific sounds might have been present in each one. Then I tried to recreate each unique soundscape using an ambient sound mixer. I then put together this website [took a lot of trial and error] so I could share my thoughts and to try and immerse the viewer [ you :) ] into how I see the space.
